PermaCrete TechTips

Q:What tool can be used for cutting new control joints in a horizontal surface that is being prepped?
A:A standard circular saw with 1/8" diamond tip blade may be used for cutting control-joints a minimum of 3/4" deep. Also, for deeper cuts, an upright, walk-behind saw is used.

Q:Should PermaMesh Fiber Cloth be used on uneven vertical brick surfaces when applying PermaCrete Matrix?
A:
Yes. PermaMesh Fiber Cloth is recommended for application to uneven vertical surfaces such as brick or cinder block walls. (Note: It may be neccessary to "hide" the grout line joints by spraying a skim coat of Matrix Mix over the concrete block or brick surfaces, and sponge-troweling the Matrix into the joints prior to application of PermaMesh.)

Q:Can expansion joints on a horizontal surface be filled with Matrix to give the appearence of a smooth surface?
A:No. PermaCaulk Sealant (later sealed with PermaSeal Stain Sealer to blend in with the surface) is recommended for use in all control and expansion joints. Filling joints with Matrix will later result in Matrix cracking with the "moving" expansion joint.
